Community of Inquiry on the theme of 'Community'
These kits have been developed to support teachers in presenting a series of engaging lessons applying strategies from Community of Inquiry practice.
The activities are arranged in recommended order.
Junior Primary Kit
- Community Concept Cards: a game
- A Picture Book and Dialogue: Room on our Rock by Kate and Jol Temple, illustrations by Terri Rose Baynton.
- A Shared Art Activity: a shared collage about community.
Primary Kit
- Community Defining Activity: students work together to define ‘community’.
- A Book/Video and Dialogue Activity: The Lost Thing, by Shaun Tan.
- An Art Activity (Years 3/4) to create Circles of Community
- Found Community Art Activity (Years 5/6) create A ‘found’ community inspired by The Lost Thing, by Shaun Tan.
Middle School Kit
- A Concept Activity exploring how to create a happy community.
- Artworks and a Dialogue: The AUSSIE posters of Peter Drew.
- Community Puzzle Art Activity where students create a large jigsaw about identity and working together.
